I am an artist living and working in East Boston. My art training is in traditional black & white photography, which I continue to practice. I also work in collage and artist’s books. My recent artwork is primarily drawing and painting using ink, acrylic paint, oil stick and crayon.

I work intuitively from the inside out - inspired by color, movement and gesture. Sometimes my beginning images are realistic, other times as cryptic as just a sense of color, a feeling or a dream. When drawing or painting, I try to leave thoughts and judgments behind and let the art appear as it will. For me, abstract form is the language of emotion and knowing.

I am intrigued by personal connections and family stories, and use these themes in my artist’s books and collages. The layering of materials – old photographs from family albums, found text and decorative papers - to build a collage - lends itself to the exploration of the threads that bind families together and the interdependence and relation of family members.

I began making photographs when I received a used twin lens reflex camera in the mail from a distant relative. My photography includes portraits, landscapes and cityscapes. I work in both traditional black & white film and in color using a digital format. I often incorporate photographs in my artist’s books.
