Photography
I became a photographer when a distant relative unexpectedly sent me a used twin lens reflex camera in the mail. As a teenager, I had already developed a fascination for photography after attending an exhibit of world photography sponsored by Stern magazine. It was the first visual art form that truly resonated with me, as it offered a way to make sense of the world around me.I love the idea of selecting a moment from my everyday life and capturing it on film, freezing it in time so it can be examined and appreciated later, creating order amidst the chaos.
My formal training began with traditional black and white photography, which laid the foundation for my artistic journey. From there, I ventured into alternative processes like cliché verre, cyanotype, and hand coloring. I love the hands-on nature of these techniques—the layering of images and experimenting with non-photographic papers sparked my interest in collage and artist books. This exploration has allowed me to blend different mediums and express my vision in unique ways.
